Horsing Around – Von Holton Ranch

(Brandy) Hi, I’m Brandy Von Holten with Von Holten Ranch. My husband and I own a new horse trail riding facility in Missouri. We’re located 14 miles southeast of Sedalia which is where the State Fair is held. We’re a century farm meaning that it’s been in my husband’s family since 1906. What that has given us is a lot of materials to use and make our facility a little bit different. We have cabins, electric sites, we have rental horses, you can bring your own horse. We have trails that are well marked. We have an on site dump station and we also have a guest shower house. We host all sort of events there. This will be our second year hosting the Missouri State EXEA Championships. We also have ACFA events. We are also hosting one of the eight UHCA competitions this year. We also have something called a VHR Equine Club. So, I have competed for the last two years in obstacle challenges and what I noticed was that it’s really hard to get into that and I also found that I keep on finding riders that are by themselves or they have… where maybe only one spouse rides. So I created an equine club that is geared around people that are wanting to ride with other people, or people that are wanting to just get better in general without the pressures of high end competition. So, I made two different levels. I made a level one, so it is one training day, one competition either competing or volunteering and then two days of clinician work. Level one’s get to be showcased on our website for a year and you also have a picture and a write up about yourself. Level two you’ll have to double everything. So, two training days, two competitions, once again it could be competing or volunteering. And then you have to do four days of clinicians. And you can mix and match and try all of our different clinicians out. Well level two people in addition to being featured on our website, you will also be able to get a team jacket that you’ll be able to purchase that will say VHR Equine Club with your name put on it. Whenever you first come, don’t forget your coggins, I would highly recommend shoes. We are in the gateway to the Ozark which means that we are hilly without being in the hills and we have rocks without being fully rocky. So we’re kind of a good moderate terrain. In order to reach us, you can reach us on Facebook. You can reach us at 660-668- 0880. Or look us up on the web at vonholtenranch.com. One other thing that we have that sets us apart is that, with the number “ten” being in our name we added ten sets of ten things to find on trails. So that means there are ten American flags, ten bird houses, ten gnome homes. So it’s an interactive trail for everyone in the family. Hope to see you there.
